Every June, Maine Public Radio produces a fantastic series that they air on their stations called “Music That Moves ME.” This premise is joyously simple, Mainers of all stripes tell their stories of their favorite songs.
I am so fortunate to have such a dense nucleus of connections surrounding Gene McDaniels, first becoming acquainted with his music, and then actually getting to meet and work with him. Sharing the story about his tune “Compared to What” being a vehicle that brought me to him was a sublime experience. I am forever thankful to Maine Public, Susan Tran, and her fantastic staff that made me sound intelligible when I was nervous beyond comprehension.
